Olympic flame
In 2003 Ronald A. Westerhuis developed the idea to design an Olympic Flame for the Olympics “Beijing 2008”. This ambitious idea surprised the business world which commissioned Ronald to make a model of 7 meters high (21ft). With this overwhelming sculpture, the artist drew the attention of both, the press and the Dutch Olympic Committee, particularly chairwoman Erica Terpstra. The sculpture was shown at the Holland Heineken House for their renowned opening ceremony during the Summer Olympics, Athens 2004.
The sculpture attracted international attention, especially in China where Ronald A. Westerhuis presented the art piece together with a general exhibition of his work at the “Art Shanghai 2005”. This project was made in collaboration with 4 in Group Shanghai
